International Snacks

There is a whole wide world of snacks to explore! Whether I’m at work, at home, or on the go, I gotta have a snack on hand. You never know what you may encounter. Maybe the vending machine is broken, maybe the nearest shop is only taking cash and you only have card, maybe, maybe, maybe… You’ve got to be prepared for anything! Here are just a few ideas of what you might want to stuff your bag with prior to clocking in at the hospital.

These tasty little treats are cheap, flavorful, and low in calories. You’ve got your choice of sea salt, sea salt & avocado oil, chili lime, teriyaki, wasabi, and more! I tend to go for the classic sea salt, but the world is your oyster, or…seaweed.

I tried these for the first time when I was living in Yuma, Arizona. They are like the salty/sweet/spicy cousin of Laffy Taffy. You can pick up a variety pack here on Amazon, or you can find them in the candy aisle of your favorite international shop. I love that I’m starting to see them around more often. You’ve got a variety of flavors to choose from. My favorite is the classic tamarind as well as the mango!

Messori Cono Hazelnut

These are hard to find online; but if you are lucky, you will find them in the international aisle of your local grocery store. I know when I lived in Florida they sold them in Publix. These are far superior to other brands attempting to recreate that last little bite at the end of an ice cream treat.

When I lived in Scotland, these delectable little treats had me in a chokehold. The wafer and caramel are soft and subtle and the chocolate coating is light enough that it doesn’t feel like an overly sugary snack. You can find them online here, or at a World Market near you.

These are dangerous. DANGEROUS. I once found them on sale at a locally owned grocery store and bought the whole lot! Kinder chocolates are becoming more available, but these little guys can still be a little tricky to locate. You can find them online here, at World Market, and occasionally at other grocery stores. One time I found them at Walmart, but I haven’t seen them there since that one fortunate day.

Light as a feather, strong as a punch to the taste buds! These are similar to Lays, but thinner. My go-to is the salt & vinegar, but it’s nice to have variety! The only place I’ve been able to find them is online, but you may get lucky and find them on a shelf near you.

Happy Snacking!
